Power wire

Today I had a power wire go bad on a tractor it was making the lights on the trailer shut on and off and or simple not work at all. Here are some pictures...

As you can see the wire was rubbing against a bolt. But also there was a bad connection at the plug as well...

Here is the plug after I cut all the wires off. The bolt that tightens the wire to the plug has rusted off.

That's the plug pulled apart.

Cleaned all the wires up.

And here is the final fix replaced the plug with a new one and put heat shrink around the wire where it had rubbed through.

As you can see I installed a clip so that the hose won't rub against the metel. All in all I leanred how to fix a rubbed through hose with heat shrink. With out replacing the wire. And how to change the plug.

Exhaust brake

Today I took apart an exhaust brake because it had a leaking and was not operating correctly. From this I leanred how to take apart the turbo, air to air, and the exhaust brake, and to assemble the new exhaust brake. Tonight I only took it apart I will put it back together tomorrow. Here are some pictures of what I did.

You can see the brake there and this the first picture of what it looked like before.

As you can see exhaust pip the seal is broken.

This is the broken exhaust brake.

You can see the ware around the hole.

Here is a picture of me putting together the new one.

Serving side dumb trailers.

This week I did nothing really out of norm just did a lot of services and a lot of brakes. But I did learn the value of a "b" service or a two week inspection. One truck that I serviced two weeks ago did not have any big issues. After two weeks I inspected the truck today and it had two blown brake cans, one bad head light, leaking antifreeze, and ac stoped
working! All in just two weeks. I pulled the truck in just to take a look and grease it. That's all I did that day. All the problems were fixed accept the ac a new panel was ordered. All in all i leanred not to under estimate just a two week inspection even though you passed that truck to go down the road two weeks ago doesn't mean it'll be good for long. Then I also serviced an apple trailer. Here is a picture of the trailer
